“Final weekend’s video games are sort of constructing blocks to get to the place we have to go sooner or later,” stated head coach Mike Schafer ’86. “Proper now, it’s making an attempt to maintain that [and] come out and prepare to play on the street the identical approach that we performed at house.”
Coming into this weekend, Cornell does have a bonus in general video games performed, with the Crimson taking part in 4 (albeit two exhibition) up to now three weekends. Yale has only one sport underneath its belt, whereas Brown has solely its two from this previous weekend.
“I don’t suppose it’s that a lot of a bonus … it’s their house opener, [so] they’ll work actually laborious,” Schafer stated.
The Crimson enters the weekend on a six-game profitable streak over the Bulldogs, relationship again to Feb. 16, 2019, and lately, has had the sting in its collection towards Brown. Cornell has an 8-1-1 report in its final 10 contests towards the Bears. Nevertheless, that doesn’t imply a lot, because it’s a brand new season with a brand new group.
“Once you go on the street, you must be able to execute [the] sport plan, handle momentum, don’t let the house group get going a bit — these are all classes we haven’t realized but, [since] we haven’t performed on the street.”
With rookies and underclassmen comprising a lot of the group, it’s a brand new journey on a regular basis for the group, whether or not or not it’s the primary street sport or first ECAC sport.
“I’m excited to see how they’re gonna go on the street and deal with profitable two video games and the way they’re going to deal with that stress in ECAC play,” Schafer stated. “There’s a variety of issues we haven’t carried out but, the whole lot’s model new and I stay up for watching these guys reply to that problem.”
